Think Local Construction Trainees
Our trainees are 16-23 year olds working towards qualifications in the Construction trades in:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry
- Painting & Decorating
- Plastering

Trainees are in College Monday – Wednesday each week and are looking for Work Experience placements (unpaid) on Thursday and Friday each week between 8am and 5pm (approx).
Our trainees are bright, reliable and focussed on gaining “on site” experience to support their classroom/workshop based learning.
Think Local ensure that our trainees are suited to working environments; having attained:
- Health & Safety
- First Aid
- Manual Handling
- CSCS
We value the employers who support our trainees. There are criterias which the trainees need to meet before being allowed out onsite with an employer and these include practical trade skills, employability skills and social skills.
Think Local support the employer whilst the employer supports the trainee in their training – to help them become qualified construction professionals.
What qualifications are needed?
Within the construction industry the skills of applied maths and communication are essential. Apprentices are required to have relevant qualifications within these core elements or be prepared to undertake basic skills teaching where needed in order to achieve the required level.
